ART DECO STOMBERG CARLSON CRADLE PHONE

Art Deco Stromberg-Carlson 1212 Fatboy Antique Telephone Stromberg Carlson began in 1894 in Chicago by two Swedish gentlemen who manufactured telephones at first. By the turn of the century, Stromberg-Carlson emerged as a leader among the independent telephone manufacturers. This was due to their reputation for stable prices, integrity and a strong emphasis on quality. In 1904, Stromberg-Carlson's original Chicago plant was closed and all operations were moved to Rochester, New York. Throughout the years, they made some of the early telephones, radios and TV's and eventually were absorbed into Comdial and Siemens in the 1980's.... Up for auction is a vintage Stromberg-Carlson Model 1212 telephone. The rotund design of this late 1930's classic earned it the unglamorous but charming nickname of "Fatboy". The phone was completely disassembled and every part was cleaned and/or polished. It features an Automatic Electric dial that was ultrasonically cleaned, lubed and then checked for proper return speed. The metro-style (numbers + letters) "Z operator" porcelain dial plate is in excellent shape. The fingerwheel is hand polished brass and has a chrome center ring.
